Information re Appointment Changes Posted on 13 Jun 2017

Please see below some further information regarding changes to the Appointment system at the practice :

Why change the service?

A review of the appointment system has taken place at the practice.

  • The demand for Emergency Walk-in and Routine appointments are unprecedented, often with long waits.
  • Due to the high volume of telephone calls, many patients find it difficult to get through at peak times.

There will no longer be walk-in Emergency appointments.  In order to manage Urgent Care requests more effectively and based on findings, a triage system for Urgent Care will be introduced.

  • Patients who require Urgent Care are being asked to telephone the practice for a Clinician to assess, treat and refer as appropriate.

Patients will be asked to provide information to the receptionist to assist the clinician

  • Urgent Care requests are clinically assessed and where appropriate patients will be asked to attend to be seen by a clinician.

Following the review this change will generate an increase in the number of routine “pre-bookable” appointments. In order to manage the calls more effectively - Patients are asked to telephone the surgery after 11:00 a.m. for routine appointments or book an appointment on line.

Patients telephoning in for test results are asked to call after 2:30 p.m.

We continue to listen to concerns raised with regard to service provision and understand this to be a significant change.

The practice appreciates your ongoing support of these changes and for our practice teams.
